During pilot testing, Carlton Senior Living and Highgate Senior Living saw significant reductions in falls and fall-related ER visits. Download the case studies to see how they implemented SafelyYou and how this technology transformed their approach to falls in Memory Care.
Carlton Senior Living, one of Northern California’s most successful senior living providers, joined forces with SafelyYou to uncover exactly how the 230 residents in their seven memory care communities were falling. They wanted to figure out a way to truly reduce falls, keep residents out of the ER, and give family members peace of mind.
Highgate made it a priority to implement SafelyYou’s artificial intelligence-enabled technology in eight communities. It detects a fall by analyzing video from cameras placed in a consented resident’s room, and sends alerts when a fall occurs. Using the SafelyYou video, staff was able to respond to a fall within minutes and assess residents for injury.
Senior housing communities are becoming increasingly focused on marketing and successful move-ins to bolster their numbers. Yet, acquiring new residents can cost as much as five to seven times more than retaining existing residents, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Chamber of Commerce. With this in mind, senior housing operators should concentrate their efforts on not only keeping their existing residents but extending their length of stay.
